3月15日からスタートした企画自然写真展【nature escape #1】は、1ヶ月間にわたり、

Whatever GALLERYにて開催されています。第一回目のテーマは「自然」。

それぞれの視点で切り取られた世界各国の風景や光、

日常に潜む静かな美しさが、空間にやさしく溶け込んでいます。

大きなガラス窓の向こうには、高野川河川敷の桜並木。
春の訪れとともにピンク色に染まりました。

この景色も、昨年はまだ工事中。ようやくこの空間が“整った”という実感が、

自然とともにやってきたように思います。

今回は展示開催を記念して、4月6日（日）に「Spring Night」と題して

カフェ閉店後の空間で夜の観覧特別イベントを実施しました。

この日ゲストにお迎えしたのは、茶人の室橋健さんと、

音楽家 / メディアアーティストのsunawamakiさん。

お二人はWhateverとパートナーシップを結び、日頃からともに活動している仲間でもあります。
改めて、Whateverに集うメンバーのユニークさと感性の豊かさを感じました。

GALLERYにはやわらかな灯りが灯り、

あたたかい中国茶の香りがふんわりと漂います。

お茶と一緒にお出ししたのは、京都・亀岡「ひろ季や」さんの桜餅。

まろやかな塩味がお花の蜜のような香りのお茶をより引き立てます。

「ここ行ったことがある。懐かしい。また行きたい。」

「これはどうやって撮ったんだろう。切り取り方が面白いな。」

写真を見ながらそんな対話も生まれ、思い思いの時間を過ごすことができました。

ご参加いただいた皆さま、そしてこの展示に関わってくださった

Since March 15th, the curated photo exhibition nature escape #1 has been quietly unfolding at Whatever GALLERY in Kyoto.
The theme of its first edition is “Nature.”

From serene landscapes and fleeting light to small moments of quiet beauty in daily life,
the works—each captured through a unique perspective from around the world—gently blend into the space.

Outside the gallery’s large glass windows, the cherry blossom trees along the Takano River have bloomed in soft pink.
Last year, this view was still hidden behind construction work.
It now feels as if the space has finally come into its own—just in time with the arrival of spring.

To celebrate the exhibition, we hosted a special nighttime event titled Spring Night on Sunday, April 6th, after the café had closed.

Our guests for the evening were Ken Murohashi, a tea master, and sunawamaki, a musician and media artist.
Both are creative partners of Whatever and bring their own unique sensibilities to our community.
It was a beautiful reminder of the richness and diversity of the people who gather here.

As soft lights lit the gallery, the soothing aroma of Chinese tea began to fill the room.
Alongside the tea, we served sakura mochi—cherry blossom rice cakes—from Hirokiya, a long-established shop in Kameoka, Kyoto.
The delicate saltiness of the sweets complemented the floral notes of the tea perfectly.

“I’ve been to this place—it brings back memories.”
“I wonder how this photo was taken. What an interesting composition.”
These kinds of conversations flowed naturally as guests explored the exhibition, each enjoying the space in their own way.

To everyone who participated, and to all those involved in bringing this exhibition to life—
